THE MAUREEN HENRY WALK OF HOPE

Sept. 11, 2010 we are having our very first Maureen Henry Walk of Hope, ovarian cancer awareness event in Sunset Park, Brooklyn NY; our stomping grounds. Maureen was born and raised and lived out her life in the Sunset Park neighborhood. She came from a large Irish family but being from Third Ave she and her siblings are fluent in Spanish. I mean fluent, she could carry a full conversation in spanish better than me and between the both of us I'm the Latina. Maureen lost her battle with ovarian cancer a few years ago and I miss her dearly. Her sister Kim felt in her heart she needed to do something and she knew Maureen wanted to make a difference and help others; she donated her organs to Research for the cure. Her desire was to spread the news in the neighborhood so woman can be informed and knowledgable about ovarian cancer. Kim who immediately became involved with THE AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY OF AMERICA and has organized Relay for Life has now stepped out in faith and organized THE MAUREEN HENRY WALK OF HOPE to honor her sister and in her sister's name make contributions towards the cause to eradicate cancer.

Victory Outreach North Brooklyn Church presents WALL WARS 3 Handball Tournament; this Saturday 26, 2010 ....@ 10:30am - 3:00pm

This is our third Handball Tournament event; the 2 events we had last summer were very successful. Today our street team handed out flyers regarding the handball event and over and over they would question "And this is a Church putting this together?" "This is cool." would be their response. Victory Outreach North Brooklyn Church is dedicated to serving the community of Willliamsburg, Bushwick and Greenpoint with up-to-date and revelant services and events. Our goal, Anti-violence and Anti-gang activity for the youth of our community. We also want them to know that as a church we are there for them and we desire that they would discover the difference Jesus makes. We put together a quality event with Experienced Referees and Trophies awarded to the first, second and third place winners. My job is score keeper and team placement, I have so much fun watching them play. I see the transformation from them showing up and checking us out all hardcore lookin' to getting their game on and smiling and cheering each other on. It is awesome. My desire and prayer is that this year would be even more successsful than last years tournament. May their simple decision to play a game lead them to other decisions towards what is positive for their futures.

VICTORY IN MARRIAGE WORKSHOP

Victory Outreach North Brooklyn Church invites you to our VICTORY IN MARRIAGE WORKSHOP with guest speaker Pastor Raymond Ramos. If you are a married couple, newly weds, engaged to wed or in a dating and committed relationship you will benefit from this up to date and revelant workshop on June 14, 2010 at 7:00pm. It is worth the investment of time, the workshop is free.

I just want to add that June 14 is my Wedding Anniversary and we are investing our marriage by attending this workshop and yes, we will go out on the weekend. Jimmy and I are celebrating 13 blessed years.

We at Victory Outreach North Brooklyn Church are committed to serve the community of Bushwick/Williamsburg/Greenpoint. We have provided study seminar for students in September with an expert administrator from Baruch College Mrs. Natalie Pinela; and we have coordinated our WALL WARS HANDBALL TOURNAMENT for youth (now coming up in June 26, 2010 at 10:00am) we will be taking sign ups soon. Victory Outreach North Brooklyn Celebrated Resurrection Sunday with two full house services. Our 2010 Easter service was opened with a video highlighting the reason why we worship Our Lord Jesus and the meaning and importance of the Cross and Resurrection.
The VONB Drama team performed the popular skit EVERYTHING. Pastor Ed Castro brought it all home with his contemporary and relevant sermon on Our Purpose in Life.
VONB will be following through with Cell groups studying the Purpose Driven Life series.
