WINNING WORSHIP

Pastor Ed Castro Blog: Winning with Worship

Many people are looking for an edge or a strategy for success.

I want to let you know one of the greatest habits you can posses to live life to the fullest capacity is worshiping God.

Worship is one of the greatest acts that changes our state and shifts our perspective from a victim to victor, from a worrier to a warrior, corrects our internal posture and helps us move from operating from ego (edging God out) to operating from Spirit.

Worship helps us take our eyes off our problems and place our affection on the problem solver.

Worship slows down our internal metronome so we can operate from a place of peace.

Worshiping God in church with song, clapping, rhythm and harmony releases within us a sense of a community, consecration, mission and releases endorphins in the pleasure center of our brains.

Worship God helps us tap into our original purpose in life.

Exd 9:13 NIV - Then the LORD said to Moses, "Get up early in the morning, confront Pharaoh and say to him, 'This is what the LORD, the God of the Hebrews, says: Let my people go, so that they may worship me,

Exd 23:25 NIV - Worship the LORD your God, and his blessing will be on your food and water. I will take away sickness from among you,

Psa 96:9 NIV - Worship the LORD in the splendor of his holiness; tremble before him, all the earth.

Psa 100:2 NIV - Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.

Psa 29:2 NKJV - Give unto the LORD the glory due to His name; Worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.

Jhn 4:24 NKJV - "God [is] Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth."

"When I worship, I would rather my heart be without words than my words be without
heart."
Lamar Boschman

"Surely that which occupies the total time and energies of heaven must be a fitting
pattern for earth."
Paul E. Billheimer

Investing in eternity

Hi Guys,
There was an recent article reported that a household with an average income of less than $20,000 spent an average of $1200 on their kids prom. Under $20,000 or over $20,000, that’s a lot of money, especially for a half-eaten meal and dance where people leave after getting their photos taken. That’s a large investment in just a few hours. What’s also interesting is that is approximately the same amount of money that households making up to $50,000 give towards charity each year.
Don't get me wrong I'm not 'hating' on proms I just want to remind everyone that is a Christ-Follower and member of V.O. North Brooklyn Church that we must live a great life without neglecting the Great Commission.

Every week at our church, we have an opportunity to invest in eternity through our offering (at church or thu our online option). It might seem like we’re investing in just a few hours, but every gift we bring back to God can make an impact in eternity. I was thinking about the $1,097 and how it could be used at our church. Here’s a quick list of things I thought of ...
  • It would pay for 8 teens to attend the Urban Training Center Book camp this Summer and transportation
  • It would pay for a community outreach like 'Family-Fest Karaoke contest'
  • It could help us put on a handball and B-Ball 3point contest in our area
  • It can pay for us to produce and air a T.V Commercial
  • It would pay for our Global Evangelism/Church planting 'United We Can' pledge to bring the gospel around the globe.
All of those opportunities will have a much longer impact than a night of tuxedos/dresses,limousines, dinner, and moving like Jagger. Please pray about investing today.
